I offer mobile running coaching in Cambridge, Saffron Walden, Newmarket and the surrounding villages.
There’s more to running than just pounding the pavement for kilometre after kilometre. I target areas of your technique that need to improve, guide you through tailored programmes and get you in great shape.
Whether you are new to running or a seasoned racer, I can help you train more effectively, avoid injury and perform better.
My name is Tom and I am qualified athletics coach, an experienced running coach and a recreational track and field athlete. Between 2011 to 2020 I helped hundreds of people run faster and further in Christchurch, New Zealand.
In March 2020 I moved back to the UK with my family. Within weeks I found myself in the unexpected position of having to be a full-time carer to my children due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the end of the pandemic on the horizon, I am back in action offering my running coaching to people in the city of Cambridge, towns of Saffron Walden and Newmarket, and the surrounding villages.
Once I know your current level of fitness and we’ve agreed a goal, I write a programme that gets you from A to B safely and effectively. Programmes consist of training zones, warm ups, cool downs, running schedules and conditioning work.
Functional conditioning strengthens muscles and joints making them more resilient to injury. It improves force absorption and force production which ultimately leads to better running economy. It’s also good fun and a great variety!
Running drills are a great way to improve technique. They are also good for conditioning and aerobic fitness. An efficient running technique improves your economy and makes it easier for your body to cope with the stresses of running.
I offer personal speed coaching to people wishing to get faster for track and field or team sports.
I have great success in the past with junior football, hockey, cricket and rugby players. I have also coached one of the fastest junior sprinters in New Zealand.
I am fluent with the technical aspects of speed on the track or sports field and I am very familiar with relevant strength and conditioning techniques
More importantly, I understand how to 'tune-in' with athletes to ensure they're motivated, not over-training and having lots of fun!
I am very happy to arrange a time to meet with you to discuss your health and fitness goals. This is an obligation-free opportunity for you to hear what I have to offer. I cannot be bothered with pushy sales techniques so please do not worry about feeling pressured. Usually this takes between 45 minutes and an hour. It can be conducted at your home, at your workplace, in a cafe or walking around a park. Please just fill out the form below.
