A New Year, A New Place

Updated: Feb 14

In mid-February, I'll be moving with my family for one last time (hopefully!).

Between 2011 and 2020, I ran my fitness business in Christchurch, New Zealand. This was a really important time for the development of my skills and business. Christchurch was a fantastic place to train with its mild weather, great parks, beaches and varied terrain. The people were also a pleasure to train.

In early 2020, I moved back to the UK (to South Cambridgeshire) with my family. From the start of that year to late 2021, I needed to become a stay-at-home dad as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition to all the daddy-day-care, I used this period of my life to write and self-published three children's books.

For the whole of 2022, I partially rebuilt To Be Personal Training in South Cambridgeshire. My wife and I were never fully committed to living in the area long-term, and so we have been actively seeking opportunities to move to an area of the country that is more 'our vibe'. An opportunity recently came up, and so we will be moving to East Devon in mid-February. I will then be training people in Exeter, Sidmouth, Honiton, Ottery St. Mary and the surrounding towns and villages.

This is likely to be our final move, and I really look forward to being able to properly build and advance my business. Devon is probably as close to Christchurch in New Zealand as we will get in Britain, with its beaches, hills and moors. Whilst we find a suitable house to buy, I will continue to train clients at their homes or outdoors. However, within the next few years, I plan to be able to offer studio-based training too. This is something I would have been offering about 5 years ago if it hadn't been for moving around the globe and Covid!

So, in a few months, I'll be saying 'goodbye' once again to a great group of clients, but I'll also be looking forward to training new people and developing my business further.
